QIAE Milestones

2000

QIAE is established in Caloundra, Queensland, Australia.

QIAE obtains ‘Registered Training Organisation’ (RTO) status with the Queensland State Government to deliver Aeroskills trade training, specialising in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering.

Tank & Gail commenced training with 6 students in a humble 2 room building with workshop / hangar facilities attached.


2001

QIAE is awarded Queensland Government contracts to conduct Pre-Employment & Apprentice Trade Training for the government in the state of Queensland.

QIAE achieves Supervising Registered Training Organisation (SRTO) status.

QIAE is granted ‘Special Sitting’ examination status with the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) for LAME licencing subjects.

QIAE relocates to larger premises at Caloundra Airport.

Students & staff along with trucks & crane, go on a recovery mission to salvage an Aero Commander 680FL (VH-DCE) aircraft from Oxenford (Gold Coast) in the yard of Coastal Auto Sales on the old Pacific Highway.


2002

A Bell 47 helicopter is given to QIAE on a loan basis from the Oakey Air Museum, so our students can restore & work on.


2003

As a Queensland Government initiative - QIAE commences school based training.

QIAE is awarded Northern Territory contracts & establishes a training centre in Darwin to deliver Pre-Employment & Apprentice Trade Training for the Northern Territory Aviation industry.

QIAE was awarded Certificate of Merit – Excellence in Business Awards.


2004

QIAE purchased Beech Starship NC-28 from Raytheon, for use in various Aircraft Maintenance Engineering training programs. Being the only one of 55 aircraft ever built & the only one of its type in the Southern Hemisphere, QIAE’s Beech Starship is noteworthy for its carbon fiber composite airframe, canard design, lack of centrally located vertical tail, and pusher engine/propeller configuration.

QIAE was awarded Training Provider of the Year – Acclaim Apprentices & Trainees.


2005

QIAE obtains Civil Aviation Regulation 30 (CAR 30) approval with the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA).

QIAE was awarded Host Employer of the Year (Large Business) – Acclaim Apprentices & Trainees


2006

QIAE obtains registration on Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) to deliver training to Overseas Students.


2007

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Air force travel to Australia for the first time to train at QIAE.

QIAE is awarded a Australian Capital Territory Government Contract to conduct Apprentice Trade Training.


2008

QIAE received a personal invitation from Dr. Saeed Mohammed Al-Shamsi (UAE Ambassador to Australia) & the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Government, inviting director Gail Porter to visit the Emirates & be part of an Inaugural Women’s Delegation.

QIAE is awarded a South Australian Government Contract to conduct Apprentice Trade Training.


2009

A new addition to the QIAE family – Tank & Gail welcome the birth of their son Kailen James Macpherson.


2010

QIAE celebrates its 10th anniversary as a training provider in Aviation.

Aeromil Pacific donates two Embraer EMB 110 Bandeirante Aircraft & parts to QIAE.

QIAE was awarded Host Employer of the Year (Large Business) – Acclaim Apprentices & Trainees.


2011

QIAE now supports 18 staff & oversees 155 students at various stages of their training career and has a large collection of fixed and rotary wing aircraft.

QIAE expands operations on the International arena to promote our training facility & community lifestyle, as the school of choice for Aircraft Maintenance Engineering training in Australia.

QIAE has submitted plans to council to commence construction of a purpose built facility at the Sunshine Coast Airport in 2012. QIAE’s new facilities will include classrooms, aircraft hangar, specialty workshops, cafe & gardens using latest technologies.
