The team is responsible for the day to day decisions of the company & school and liaises constantly with stakeholders within the Aviation Industry to ensure our students receive ongoing training relevance.
A luminary within Australia’s aeroskills industry, QIAE’s Managing Director Tank Macpherson possesses more than 40 years experience in military, general aviation and aircraft maintenance training. Over the course of his career, he has frequently distinguished himself within the Royal Australian Air Force, in addition to the local aviation industry.
As on of the co-writer's of the original National Training Curriculum for the Aeroskills Industry - the core program which is employed throughout the Australian Defence Force and the nation’s commercial airlines and general aviation sector –Tank’s knowledge has markedly contributed to the education of those individuals responsible for forging and maintaining the exceptional calibre of Australia’s aeroskills industry.
Possessing over 20 years experience in the aviation industry and having served on the Company's Board of Directors since 2000, Gail is one of the motivating forces behind QIAE. In addition to being a qualified pilot, she is widely regarded as an expert in payments, processing and the development of new solutions.
Presently serving as the head of Strategy and Planning for QIAE’s international student recruitment, she has over the past decade developed invaluable connections with members of the international aviation community, and was among those who were invited by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Government to travel to the UAE as part of an inaugural business women’s delegation to enhance cultural ties with women in business.
Prior to commencing his career in engineering training, Tony spent 20 years working within the industry during which time he occupied a diverse number of roles including the position of an aircraft maintenance engineer and an aircraft logistics assessor, in addition to a managerial position. Moreover, he knows the aeroskills industry well, having worked at length as a technical Instructor, a training supervisor and a training manager.
In his capacity as a manager for Registered Training Organisations (RTO) he was able to employ his skills as a senior industry advisor in reporting to the Queensland State government on skilling issues related to Aeroskills and Aviation. He asserts that moving into the role of the General Manager for QIAE - itself an RTO delivering training in engineering to the Aviation industry - was a natural progression.

With over 30 years industry experience and a decade spent working within the aeroskills training industry alone, Garth is a highly capable manager of the day to day running of the training and quality aspects of QIAE.
Armed with a vast knowledge of civilian aviation licensing, he is responsible for ensuring the sufficiency of our training resources, monitoring the training of apprentices and trainees, overseeing the quality system and ensuring it’s compliance with Australian standards and maintaining contact with relevant stakeholders and government authorities. He takes particular pride in QIAE’s ability to deliver flexible training to individuals residing remote localities.
