Aeroskills Training

The Aeroskills Training Package is for those people who want to train as Aircraft Maintenance Engineers, and learn how to repair, overhaul, test and troubleshoot aircraft and aircraft-associated systems.

All students must complete the same set of compulsory ‘core’ subjects. This gives you a good grounding in your trade and helps you understand the overall working of all types of aircraft.

But because aircraft are highly complex machines, in the workplace their maintenance is divided into three different trade groups:

  • Avionics,
  • Mechanical and
  • Structures.

We offer these three trade streams of learning at Certificate IV level, and avionics and mechanical at Diploma level.

You need to decide from the start in which field you’d ultimately prefer to work. Within each stream, you can also choose electives within that stream.

Because the Aeroskills Training Package curriculum has been developed in conjunction with the Australian Aerospace Engineering Industry, you know it will be highly relevant.

These industry participants included representatives from major Australian airlines, manufacturers, general aviation, key unions, Registered Training Organisations and Government bodies including the Australian Defence Force (ADF), Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and the Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST).

Having studied hard, you want proper recognition.

And with Queensland Institute for Aviation Engineering (QIAE) you’ll get it!

The Aeroskills Training Package is a Nationally Recognised Qualification under the Australian Quality Framework (AQF) standards. Qualifications are issued to successful graduates depending on their enrolled ‘Certificate’ level.

The Australian Aeroskills training qualifications offered to students and awarded on completion are as follows:
